Our First Day In Colorado
We crossed into Colorado at around 08:30 local time. The drive wasn’t so bad, if you ignore all of the unnecessary construction on I-80 in Nebraska. After a somewhat last minute, reckless stop at the highway sign, we took a brief hiatus from driving at the Colorado Welcome Center in Julesberg, CO and made sure to press some souvenir pennies. Anna and I collected them everywhere we’ve been, continuing a tradition from my childhood.

Our next stop was the Colorado Model Railroad Museum in Greeley where we took in the breathtaking layout, had some nice conversations with the volunteers, and was promptly scolded by my wife for buying some HO (1/87) scale rolling stock from the gift shop as I have exceeded my yearly model train budget. There is an album below featuring a bunch of photos I took of the layout, of varying quality.

We also filled out the scavenger hunt for shits and giggles. It was worth it for this sick little dinosaur toy we won though!

Then it was off to Manitou Springs to check into our hotel and explore some nearby scenery. Anna captured some breathtaking photos on the drive over, as you’ll see sampled below. The room is pretty darn nice and honestly a pleasant journey into the past when roadside motels were still cheap and a memorable stay. We’re still getting ready for supper and will update more later today or tomorrow. So far, the honeymoon is off to a great start. We’re having a blast!
