Finishing Our First Day

After a short break in our hotel room, we visited the Helen Hunt Falls. A short jaunt across town brought us to the entrance of the North Cheyenne Cañon Park where we embarked on an absolutely breathtaking drive up the mountain, following narrow twisting roads toward the summit we were after. This is where the sunroof included in our rental really made it worth every penny. Getting practically a full view around and above the vehicle is an experience I will not soon forget.

A map of the park.

A very serious warning sign.

Stairs. Why did it have to be stairs?

Of course, after a very short hike (really a barely challenging walk) to the top to observe the falls, we had to snap a few pictures together and of the scenery.

We had to wait around for some teenage girls to take their senior photos before we could get close to the falls themselves. It was very much worth the wait though. I was able to get right up on the rocks, admiring them up close, and drink water (safely, with a bottle) directly from the sweet source that feeds Colorado Springs. I have never felt so close to being a true Hydro Homie. This experience was truly incredible. I am so lucky to be able to share these experiences with my wife.

Tomorrow, we will be exploring Manitou Springs and riding the Cog Railway to the summit of Pikes Peak. We picked up a neat little dash-cam/action camera to hopefully get some fun footage to share as well. We can’t wait to share more with you all.
